Arnauld Miles
Working between Bali and Europe. Four cuvées, made in one place, finished by hand.

I am not interested in the moment something happens. I am interested in the twenty minutes afterwards, when the light is leaving and nobody is watching any more.
Arnauld Miles moved to Bali in 2019 and has worked from a single studio in Denpasar since. The work is made on the island — photographed, printed, mounted and finished within an hour of where it was taken. Nothing is sent abroad to be assembled.
Each cuvée is released together and then closed. A piece that does not earn its place is not released at a lower price or in a smaller size. It is simply not released.
The practice
Photographed
Made on location in Bali, almost always in the hour before or after the light changes. No composite images, no borrowed skies.
Printed
Archival pigment on cotton rag, or direct to aluminium, depending on how much the work needs to hold or return light.
Finished
Face-mounted under optical-grade acrylic, aluminium backing, concealed rear frame, polished edges. Assembled by hand in Denpasar.
Registered
Numbered, certified, and entered into the authentication database before it leaves the studio.
First look, first refusal
New editions are released to the collector list before they reach the site. Small releases sell out before launch.
